The vision for Shallowford Kids, aligned with one of our church values, is to Make Kingdom Disciples. We believe this goal is primarily achieved at home, but we desire to partner with parents in their journey to make kingdom disciples. Most importantly, we simply desire to show God's love to your kids and ensure they have a safe environment to learn about Him.
We want you to feel comfortable leaving your kids with us while you focus on the church service. We always have multiple volunteers in each classroom, as well as cameras in each room. Every volunteer undergoes a background check and a screening process with the Children's Ministry Director, as well as volunteer training, including MinistrySafe's Sexual Abuse Awareness training.

You’ll find registration and check-in for the Children’s Ministry in the lobby prior to the start of the worship service. A ministry volunteer will help you check in and direct you to the correct class. You’ll need to keep the printed tag for picking up your kids after service.
Nursery (0-2 years): Drop off begins at 10:15 am. Your babies will play with toys, have snacks, and be loved on by volunteers. We can also give bottles if you provide instruction.
Toddlers (2-5 years): Drop off begins at 10:15 am. Weather permitting, the kids go out to the fenced-in playground. Then they will have a snack while learning a Bible lesson (with a special puppet!), sing a song from The New City Kids Catechism, and complete a craft. Of course, play time and additional worship songs are always included! We focus on repetition at this age, so we teach the same lesson two weeks in a row and sing the same Catechism song for a month.
K-2nd: After registering in the lobby, kids in the K-2nd class begin the morning in the worship service with their families. They are dismissed to their class after two worship songs and a Psalm reading. The kids play inside or go out to the fenced-in playground (weather permitting). They then hear and discuss a story from The Biggest Story Curriculum. This curriculum starts with the book of Genesis and works its way through the entire Bible in two years. Each session includes a lesson from The Biggest Story Bible, a craft, and activity.
3rd-5th: After registering in the lobby, kids in the 3rd-5th class begin the morning in the worship service with their families. They are dismissed to their class after two worship songs and a Psalm reading. They then hear and discuss a story from The Biggest Story Curriculum. This curriculum starts with the book of Genesis and works its way through the entire Bible in two years. Each session includes a lesson from The Biggest Story Bible, a craft, and activity. Weather permitting, the kids go out to the fenced-in playground. The last Sunday of each month is Family Worship Sunday. The 3rd-5th class stays for the entire worship service. Activity books, pencils, and crayons are available to them during the service.
Mothers’ Room: A cozy room for mothers to soothe, feed, nurse, or change their babies.
